Executive Assistant Resume Checklist

A polished resume can make the difference between landing an interview and being overlooked. At Texas Star Recruiting, we review dozens of applications weekly for high-net-worth clients. Use this checklist to make sure your Executive Assistant or Personal Assistant resume stands out for the right reasons.


1. Presentation & Format

  • Clean, professional layout (no bright colors, fancy fonts, or headshots).
  • Consistent formatting: same font, spacing, and bullet style.
  • 1–2 pages maximum (exceptions only for 15+ years of experience).

2. Professional Summary

  • 3–4 sentences at the top (not an objective statement).
  • Highlight years of EA/PA experience, industries, and signature strengths.
  • Include keywords: discretion, organization, executive support.

3. Work Experience

  • List positions in reverse chronological order (most recent first).
  • Each role includes: title, company, location, and dates.
  • Use short paragraph-style bullets (2–4 lines each).
  • Show measurable impact:
    • “Managed calendars for 6 executives”
    • “Coordinated $1M+ annual events”
    • “Reduced vendor costs by 20%”
  • Include both professional and, if relevant, personal assistant duties.

4. Skills & Tools

  • Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, Concur/Expensify.
  • Travel booking (domestic/international, private jet experience if applicable).
  • Event planning, budget management, vendor coordination.
  • Emphasize discretion, confidentiality, and client service.

5. Education & Extras

  • Degree(s), GPA (they often ask), certifications, or relevant training.
  • Professional organizations or polished volunteer work.

6. Final Review

  • Resume is tailored for EA/PA roles (not generic admin).
  • No spelling, grammar, or formatting errors.
  • Contact info + LinkedIn profile included.
  • Saved as PDF (unless recruiter requests Word).
